Did You Know?

Through most of the series, there was a running dark comic joke where Quinn pretended while at school or in public that Daria was not her sister. While Quinn would come sometimes come up with ridiculous fake identities for Daria, most of the references to this were made by Quinn's Fashion Club frenemy Sandy, who referred to Daria on several occasions as Quinn's "cousin or whatever", "that girl that lives with you or whatever" or "that exchange student that stays with you or whatever" (the last two when talking to Quinn). In Season 5, when Sandy tries to intimidate Quinn by implying Daria is her sister, Quinn overtly tells the class that Daria IS her sister; when Sandy pretends to act astonished about this, she ends up being humiliated as the other Fashion Club members (Tiffany and Stacy, both of whom are nicer than Sandy) bluntly say that they always knew Daria was Quinn's sister but didn't say so because they "were just being polite about it" to Quinn. [Mr. DeMartino and Ms. Li are both disheveled from a long teachers' strike negotiations]
Ms. Angela Li: Don't think you can intimiate... intermolate... don't think you can scare me with your threat to picket naked!
Mr. Anthony DeMartino: You think I'm bluffing? This is Goodwill polyester I've been sweating in all night. I WANT to picket naked!
Ms. Angela Li: All right! A two percent raise and a space heater for the teacher's lounge.
Mr. Anthony DeMartino: [tugs on collar] Boy! It's getting hot in here!

Daria, I am your sister (noooooooo!!!!!!)
25 October 2016 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This is a landmark episode of Daria. It's the sixth episode of Daria, and was screened about 2 months after the inauguration of Bush-Cheney in 2000.

Here Daria is called on to be a substitute teacher in a class which happens to have the Fashion Club. The end of the episode is inspiring when Quinn admits to the Fashion Club during a class that Daria is her sister. Sandi is shocked. Stacy and Tiffany aren't shocked because they knew all along, but didn't say anything out of politeness to Quinn. How considerate of Stacy and Tiffany.

The teachers go on strike, and one of the substitute teachers gets fired after getting a bit too close to the Fashion Club in class.
