- J.R. Ewing: [annoyed that Lucy is having contact with Valene] I knew that tramp mother of hers would start filling her up with false hope if she came back to Dallas.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Somehow the role of social worker doesn't fit you, J.R.
- J.R. Ewing: Well, she is my niece.
- Sue Ellen Ewing: Well, I'm touched by your concern with children. I'm just sorry you didn't adopt me instead of marrying me.
- J.R. Ewing: [her sarcasm is not getting through to J.R] Hm. What?
- J.R. Ewing: Hey Bobby, where's Pam? Y'all have another argument?
- Bobby Ewing: She's working late, J.R.
- J.R. Ewing: Short of cash, are you?
- J.R. Ewing: Now hold on, Ray, you're just a hired hand around here, don't try to shift the blame on me!
- Jock Ewing: [talking about his past] I was wildcatting. Ah... tough times. Men shooting, killing each other. You know, things like... like happened today.
- Jock Ewing: All right, maybe I did lean on you too hard. But it seems to me you've waited a hell of a long time to get revenge.
- Tom Owens: I didn't want revenge. I wanted to spit in your eye.
- Jock Ewing: Then what's all this?
- Tom Owens: You crushed me like a bug. And after 32 years you don't even remember my name. You're gonna pay for that.
- [aims his rifle at Jock]
- Jock Ewing: I don't remember you, Owens, but I should have. Because you got a lot of pride. And when you get right down to it, that's all a man can take to his grave.
- J.R. Ewing: [cleaning shotgun, to Bobby] I don't see why Dad has to have Ray along. It should be a family thing.
- Bobby Ewing: You know how he feels about Ray. It's like he is part of the family.
- J.R. Ewing: Yeah. Never could figure that one out.
- Ben Masters: [dials phone] Tom? It's Ben. Jock Ewing and his sons are here. Yeah, Jock Ewing! They're going hunting. They just went across the street to the bar.
- Jock Ewing: [laughing and throwing cash to the bartender after the fight at Lenny's Bar] Three hundred bucks oughta cover it, buddy!
- Jock Ewing: [Jock awakens to see someone under the hood of their SUV] Hold it!
- [fires his shotgun, sniper shots follow, Jock is hit and goes down]
- J.R. Ewing: [awakens] What is going on?
- Bobby Ewing: Daddy's hit!
- Ray Krebbs: Get down!
- J.R. Ewing: DADDY!
- Tom Owens: [Tom and Dan come up on a sleeping J.R. and Jock, Dan takes J.R.'s gun, they awaken with a start] Hold it.
- Jock Ewing: What do you want?
- Tom Owens: Still don't remember, Ewing? Steal a man's farm, wipe him out, and you still don't remember.
- Jock Ewing: Now you look, Mister...
- Tom Owens: Owens!
- Jock Ewing: Owens, I do business with a lot of people.
- Tom Owens: 32 years ago, you came to my farm, personally. We stood as close as we are right now. You tried to get me to sell. When I wouldn't, you spread some money around. And suddenly no one would buy my crops.
- Tom Owens: [enters bar] EWING!
- Jock Ewing: You talkin' to me, or all of us?
- Tom Owens: You! Big Jock Ewing! You're in my territory now, where that name doesn't mean a damn thing!
- Jock Ewing: Well now, since I didn't claim it did, we don't have anything to argue about do we?
- [turns back to his table]
- Tom Owens: Face me, Ewing! There's no one to help you here! No Ewing organization, nobody but yourself, if you're man enough!
- Bobby Ewing: [standing up] That does it...
- Jock Ewing: [stops him] Bobby...
- Tom Owens: Look at me! Well, look at me!
- Jock Ewing: [grunts, then stands up] All right! I'm lookin' right at ya! Now what the hell do ya want?
- Tom Owens: Don't you know?
- Jock Ewing: Know what?
- Tom Owens: I'm Tom Owens!
- Jock Ewing: So you're Tom Owens!
- Tom Owens: Don't you even remember me?
- Jock Ewing: I never saw you before in my life!
- Tom Owens: Why you...
- [throws punch, brawl insues]
- Tom Owens: [after the fight] He doesn't remember. He destroyed me... took everything, and he doesn't remember.
- Ben Masters: They're going hunting... in the middle of the week. No matter where they go, there's going to be nobody around.
- Tom Owens: Yeah... yeah.
- [begins to smile]
- Tom Owens: I've waited a long time, and Jock Ewing is gonna remember Tom Owens. He's gonna remember me, all right.
- Bobby Ewing: [Bobby is tending to a wounded J.R] Did you see who it was, J.R.?
- J.R. Ewing: [sarcastically] No, I didn't see who it was! It had to be those men we brawled with in Landown.
- Bobby Ewing: Why would they want to kill us?
- J.R. Ewing: We hurt their pride! We ripped 'em on their own territory in front of their friends!
- Bobby Ewing: All because Daddy didn't recognize that dude? That's a little hard to believe, J.R.
- J.R. Ewing: Listen, Bob... we gotta get outta here. Those dudes might come back.
- Tom Owens: My boy and I had to start all over again, from nothing... in Landowne.
- Ben Masters: Mr. Owens has made a lot of friends around here, Ewing.
- Jock Ewing: Yeah, the kind of friends that ambush people.
- Dan Owens: They all know my father's story and who ruined him in Texas. Nobody's gonna feel sorry for whatever happens here.
- Jock Ewing: So that's it? You're gonna kill me in cold blood, huh?
- J.R. Ewing: Listen, maybe we can make a deal, sir.
- Jock Ewing: No, J.R.
- [sits up]
- Jock Ewing: All right, Owens. Come on. If you're gonna do it, do it.
- Tom Owens: [raises rifle, then looks into Jock's unwavering eyes, lowers rifle] I can't. I'm not a killer. I thought you're were gonna shoot my boy... I was gonna kill you, and get away with it. Give the devil his due.
- J.R. Ewing: [as he gets his shoulders rubbed] Who was on the other line, honey?
- Kristin Shepard: The tanker people. But I told them you were in a meeting.
- J.R. Ewing: Well, what did they want?
- Kristin Shepard: You don't wanna know, do you?
- J.R. Ewing: No,
- [smirks]
- J.R. Ewing: not now.
- [enjoying massage:]
- J.R. Ewing: Right there, you got it.
- Kristin Shepard: J.R., is everything all right?
- J.R. Ewing: You worried about your salary?
- Kristin Shepard: No, I'm worried about you. This Southeast Asia thing's a big gamble, isn't it?
- J.R. Ewing: Now, you just let me tend to running Ewing Oil, and you tend to running me, okay?
- Kristin Shepard: Okay, but you don't have to keep everything bottled up.
- J.R. Ewing: Oh, right there, right there. Just do it.
- Kristin Shepard: I know that everything the Ewings own is mortgaged to the hilt, J.R.
- [phone rings]
- J.R. Ewing: Get that phone for me.
- [she goes off]
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: [as her mother-in-law comes down the stairs] Miss Ellie. I didn't know you were going out.
- Miss Ellie Ewing: Just a routine checkup at the doctor's.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Didn't you see Dr. Danvers yesterday?
- Miss Ellie Ewing: Well, you'll find out when you get older, Pam, they have to run more and more tests on you.
- [smiles, goes off]
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: [places hand on Miss Ellie's arm] Miss Ellie, is that really what it is? You seemed awfully anxious to get Jock out of here.
- Miss Ellie Ewing: [smiles, sighs] Pam, I'm late, I have to go.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: Bye-bye.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: [Miss Ellie fought tears when she placed little John into the crib] What's wrong, Miss Ellie?
- Miss Ellie Ewing: Nothing. Uh... I'll go downstairs and warm the bottle.
- Pamela Barnes Ewing: [softly] I know something's wrong. Can't you tell me? I'd like to help.
- Miss Ellie Ewing: [struggling to hold back her emotions] It's nothing, Pam. I'll... I'll be right back with the bottle.
