Stuck out in Australia, with no pay-TV, it is very hard for me to watch "Hannah Montana". Luckily I got a chance to view the pilot episode. The show became very popular almost immediately and it's easy to see why - it's funny, with some great characters and a really interesting storyline.
I loved the way this episode managed to introduce the plot and characters without having to spell it out. It just went right in and with a few clever lines, things ended up explained.
Miley Stewart is a teenager living a double life - she is a normal school girl who doubles as teen pop sensation Hanah Montana. She must keep her identities separate and secret, because it would ruin her normal life if it came out how famous she was. This episode features her having to get out of going to a Hannah Montana concert with her best friend (and of course fan), Lilly. It's very hard for her to keep the secret from her best friend.
Although this is a little unbelievable, it's fascinating and there's so much room for funny jokes! I don't think Miley is that great an actor, but she does do pretty well in her part. The supporting cast is pretty good too, although like with any show they seem to be getting more into their characters in later episodes down the series.
It's a very entertaining programme!
