When Ike finally joins his father's group of mercenaries, Daein suddenly invades Crimea. Getting caught off guard, Crimea loses quickly. Ike's father, Greil, has no choice but to lead the group of mercenaries out of Crimea into the neighboring nation, Gallia. The mercenaries decide they must rebel the attack, and gain back Crimea. However, there is hard racial tensions going on between the Beroc (humans) and Laguz (humans who can transform into animals), and the Daein army is hunting the mercenaries down.
