Every 2 years Flanders (Belgium is "divided" in 2 parts, a Dutch speaking part and a French speaking part, I live in Flanders, the Dutch speaking part) organizes the preselection for the Eurovision Song Contest. This year, it was Flanders' turn. This year we had the longest preselection in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest. The preselection contained 7 episodes (4 weeks the first round, 2 weeks the semi-finals and 1 week the final). I think the Belgium made a good choice by selecting Kate Ryan with her song "Je T' Adore" (sung in English and French, but mostly in English). Everyone thought Kate Ryan would do very well at the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens (Greece), because the song was good and catchy and the Belgian government invested in a promotion tour through more than 20 countries in Europe. Unfortunately Kate Ryan didn't make it to the final. My favorite entry in the Belgian preselection this year was Peter Evrard (some of you will maybe remember him from the first World Idol, he sang the song "Lithium" from Nirvana there. He ended 3rd after Kurt Nilsen (Norway) and Kelly Clarkson (U.S.A.)) with the song "Coward". I would also still like to mention the nice stage with water around it. Nicely done!
