Warner Bros. would love to see Leonardo DiCaprio as the Joker in the studio’s planned origin tale, according to sources. But it’s way too early to predict whether the versatile star might be interested, and no offer has been made.
It makes sense that a Scorsese-led Joker would look to involve DiCaprio — they’ve teamed on “Gangs of New York,” “The Aviator,” best picture winner “The Departed,” “Shutter Island,” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
But the Joker project could be a real longshot since DiCaprio, who hasn’t made a movie since he won best actor for “The Revenant,” has been attached to numerous projects that never got made, some with Scorsese. Upon first glance at the title it might seem like some "click-bait" article trying to get read. And perhaps, no matter what you read here, that is how you're going to see it. However, once you finish reading this opinion piece (and remember, this is simply my opinion), you may very well agree that Ridley Scott is no longer the man to handle the Alien franchise. Especially after watching this weekend's less than stellar Alien: Covenant.
When the first Alien movie landed in theaters in 1979, it was groundbreaking. It featured incredible special effects, a plausible look at the space program in the future, and a scene of such amazingly grotesque proportions (the alien exploding out of a crew mate's stomach), it still shocks people to this day. The film was smart, it featured a female kicking ass, and in many ways, the first Alien movie directed by Ridley Scott is still ahead of it's time. »

I can’t think of too many more recent well-deserved sci-fi blockbuster hits than The Martian. I really like the film a lot. Expertly directed by one of cinema’s best ever world builders, Ridley Scott, it of course told the story of a man stranded on the red planet, with the simple task of staying alive for, er, a long time before help could be found. Given that the Mars movies we got in the early 2000s were Mission To Mars and Red Planet, I’m happy to call The Martian a substantial upgrade.
I’d also suggest it brought the best out of Ridley Scott.

Late last week, I got a chance to see Ridley Scott’s latest film, the franchise outing Alien: Covenant. A sequel to Prometheus and prequel to Alien, it is still a few weeks out, but 20th Century Fox is clearly feeling bullish about it. You’ll see what think in detail later on this month, but with it fresh in my mind, I wanted to take a look at Scott’s career on the whole. Musical chameleon Mike Patton has announced that he's working on a score for the Netflix adaptation of the Stephen King novella 1922. In November of last year, it was announced that Netflix would be making a movie based on King's short story. Zak Hilditch will direct the movie based off of the screenplay that he wrote. The story is told through the narration of the main character who confesses to murdering his wife and later believes that she is haunting him. Not much else has been revealed about the movie, but we have learned that Mike Patton has already composed the score.

“Paterson” actress Golshifteh Farahani was exiled from Iran after she appeared in Ridley’s Scott’s 2008 film “Body of Lies” and appeared on screen and on the red carpet without a veil. The actress then moved to Paris, and while she doesn’t carry an Iranian passport, Donald Trump’s new travel ban could affect her career and next role.
“I’m supposed to go to the Us this Saturday for a movie, but I might not be able to go,” Farahani told The Hollywood Reporter. “The embassy is so busy. I’ve been trying to get an Esta, but I can’t even get onto the website. I think some crazy things are happening.”
The actress didn’t reveal the project she was scheduled to appear in, but added that producers were already searching for her replacement in case she was unable to travel.

After appearing in Ridley Scott’s Body of Lies in 2008 alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, the Iranian-born actress found herself exiled from her own homeland, where hardline officials had taken offense to her appearing without a veil, both onscreen and on the red carpet.
