Storyline

The Royle family sit around watching television. Slobbish, grumpy father Jim moans about the bills whilst his long-suffering wife Barbara is tested by daughter Denise on bread prices as she is due to start work in a bakery and put-upon 15 year old son Antony is sent to the shops to buy them all cigarettes. Cheryl from next door comes in to look through a catalogue with Denise, who is planning her wedding to the rather slow Dave, and Twiggy, a chubby friend of the family, tries to get them to buy cheap shampoo of questionable origin.
