Quotes

  • Pascale : Strange. There's an ambulance pulling up at DDT's.

Oscar : He'll probably need gas.

Pascale : Why are they leaving so fast?

Boma : They'll have seen his prices.

  • Bieke : [sarcastically]  You're looking fresh.

Boma : Did I feel ashamed about Dimitri at The Pussycat last night.

Pico : At The Pussycat. Did he survive?

Boma : Sheer embarassment. It started on the way in. He didn't want to give his overcoat in the cloakroom to save money. I put him a chick on his lap. He pushes her and she falls with her bosom on the dancefloor. And if you think he drank something serious last night... Sparkling water.

Pascale : Perhaps you should've done the same.

Boma : [last line in French]  Probably. Yet I'm the one who's not allowed to enter The Pussycat anymore. Boma's not taking anyone with him anymore. Jamais de ma vie.

Oscar : You've already done more than you should, Mr. President.

Boma : There's nothing to replace it, Oscar. Get me some coffee. I'd like to forget about last night as quickly as possible.

    Oscar : No problem.

Carmen : [Carmen and Xavier enter]  Look who's here. Our nighthawk. You don't stop no more, do you?

Boma : I've ordered some coffee, Mother Superior. Something wrong, Oscar?

Oscar : The coffee machine's slipping again.

Carmen : Sometimes Xavier's machine slips, too.

  • Dimitri : [closing scene]  Dear friends, dear Kampioenen.

Pico : What do you say? Friends? Keep telling yourself that.

Carmen : Making us believe you would sell your garage, huh? And that suicide was just comedy too?

Dimitri : Suicide? Who told you that? That's the last thing on my mind. I got electrocuted.

Pascale : You should have said that from the start.

    Dimitri : Nobody asked me.

Boma : So you've pulled a prank on us, huh? You can pay back my membership card in the Pussycat, dude.

Dimitri : But I've brought you this special surprise. This is 1,500 francs champagne per bottle.

Carmen : Tap water with bubbles, you mean, right? You can keep your junk, hypochondriac.

    [she knocks over his crate]

Dimitri : [he rages]  Yeah now it's right here on the floor, huh! I worked for a month for it.

Boma : [he checks it out]  That's real champagne.

Dimitri : Yeah. Do you have any idea how much that cost me?

Boma : Dimitri, we didn't expect that from you, did we?

Dimitri : [he's angry]  Right... Right.

Pico : Dimitri, I think they've all crossed the line.

Xavier : Yeah. We're terribly sorry, DDT.

Dimitri : [he rages even harder]  Sorry? Too late, you trash cans you are! I'll put those birds of yours in the casserole! You will hear about it, bunch of potters!

    [he angrily leaves the cafe]

Doortje : [she defends him]  Yeah. That's what you are. A big bunch of potters!

Pico : [in the background, on his wife leaving in anger]  You too, Doortje?

Carmen : [when they're gone; she's shocked]  Wow, I've never seen him this angry.

Boma : [he safeguarded a bottle]  Hey, we can still open one bottle. Who wants a glass of champagne? Oscar, could you uncork it?

[however, Doortje returns and takes the bottle]

Boma : Alright then. Oscar, give me a strong coffee.

Xavier : Me too. For the first time in my life.

Carmen : For me too. And no lukewarm.

    Pico : Sure. Why not.

    Bieke : Come on, dad.

Oscar : Give me a second.

[his coffee machine slips, then it covers the others with water]

  • Doortje : [Doortje cries; Dimitri is in the hospital]  I never thought you were such selfish people.

Pascale : Oscar, what about that coffee?

    Oscar : My machine falters.

    Pico : Doortje, explain what...

Doortje : Leave me alone. I warned you all, but no one would believe me.

    [she cries more]

Carmen : *Should* we believe everything you say?

Boma : Doortje. He isn't quite dead, or is he?

Doortje : He was still breathing when the ambulance came to pick him up. If he survives, I want it to be over with bullying him. The man needs help. Otherwise you all have a suicide on your conscience.

    Boma : Wise words, Doortje.

Xavier : Of course the question is "How do we help him recover?"

Carmen : Yeah. You can't straighten a tree that grows crooked.

Xavier : Maybe we could let him maintain our car some more?

Oscar : Or refuel some more.

Pascale : With your rusty bike, right?

Doortje : Just do the opposite of what you're doing now. No more bullying and teasing. From now on everyone sympathizes with him.

Pico : Well Doortje, I'm proud that you are taking such an initiative.

Oscar : Here's your coffee, Doortje.

Pascale : [to Oscar]  It was about time too, huh.

Oscar : There's nothing I can do about my machine failing, can I?

Pascale : There's even more wrong with *you*.

Boma : [to Doortje; calmly]  We'll call the clinic and ask how he is, alright? If he's still alive, then let's see what we can do for him. Such as, for example -

[scene overlaps; in the next shot, De Kampioenen prepare to throw a welcome party for Dimitri]
