Jack Dee returns to sitcom as a graphic designer adjusting to rural life, and there’s more magnificent storytelling from the staggering behind-the-scenes police doc. Plus, fresh and funny sketches of black British culture in Famalam

Jack Dee returns to sitcom as half of an urban couple who rashly relocate to the country. Dee plays a web designer, tricky because the new house is “in a dip” and can’t seem to connect to broadband; his wife (Kerry Godliman) is a gardener who must learn to charm the uniformly irritating villagers. Like Dee’s BBC vehicle Lead Balloon, it relies on intricate plotting and heavily so in an opener that, in an effort to appeal to a wider audience, keeps its gags safe and gentle. Jack Seale

‘Mythbusters': Can Season ‘Lucky 13′ Finally Nab an Emmy Win?
If a 13-year-old show — with six Emmy nominations and zero wins in its first 12 years — snags another Emmy nomination, could that validate the term “lucky 13”?

Maybe, if it’s “Mythbusters.”

“I love ‘lucky 13,’ considering we’ve spent our entire show debunking superstitions,” says Adam Savage, who, with fellow host Jamie Hyneman, has conducted roughly 2,800 experiments disproving — and sometimes proving — the plausibility of nearly 1,000 urban legends, myths and common misperceptions since filming began in 2002.

Luck was also involved in Hyneman and Savage becoming hosts of what’s now Discovery’s longest-running series.

“The idea for ‘Mythbusters’ was actually a creation of Beyond Prods. out of Sydney,” Savage says. Producers had trouble finding the right host until they remembered meeting Hyneman and Savage when the duo created a robot for “Robot Wars” in the early 1990s. They contacted Hyneman, who asked if Savage was interested in co-hosting.

“Unbeknownst to Jamie, I’d

McLennan and McCartney..

The series stars comedians and Kate McLennan (ABC TV.s It.s a Date, Comedy Up Late; Network Ten.s Offspring, Channel 7.s Winners and Losers) and Kate McCartney (ABC TV.s Problems, Dirty Laundry Live, Adam Hills Tonight, Kath & Kim) as a horrendously smug foodie and a food-intolerant anti-foodie respectively, with McLennan attempting to teach an indifferent McCartney how to cook a new dish each week.

.At the start of The Katering Show I promised to change McCartney.s life through the power of good food and even better friendship,

Indie Spotlight: “The Katering Show” Is A Laugh Riot In The Kitchen

American women aren't the only ones who can pull off a cooking/comedy hybrid on a tight budget. Aussies Kate McLennan and Kate McCartney are the titular Kates in The Katering Show, a new web series on the Lead Balloon TV channel.

On their show, fictional versions of McLennan and McCartney (the similarity of their names to another famous duo is apparently just a coincidence) teach viewers how to cook. The catch is that McCartney has a number of food intolerances, so she makes a stomach-safe version of whatever meal McLennan is cooking up. McLennan has no dietary restrictions, but her over-the-top, cloying personality makes her a high-energy foil to McCartney's mopey sad-sack of a co-host.

The Katering Show recently zoomed up the charts on Reddit, and for good reason. The two Kates have some serious writing chops, and they have put together a hysterical script to go with moments of subtle,

First Glimpse of 'Thunderbirds Are Go"

  • LRM Online
Remember the British TV series from the 1960s, Thunderbirds? The puppet, action, sci-fi epic series holds a special place in the heart of a certain generation and now the folks from ITV Studios are hoping for it to catch on with an all-new audience. The series is going to be relaunched in 2015, with the name Thunderbirds Are Go, and they've tapped Weta to handle the effects for the update- which will use a combination of miniature sets and CG characters. The original was filmed using a technique that creator Gerry Anderson called Super Mario Nation (I like that!)...oh wait, I'm sorry. That's Supermarionation.

While no official images have been released of the characters, sets, or the new visual aesthetic, this invitation from ITV does give the world it's first look:
