Storyline

Michael Dublin is a full-time con man working the underground boxing circuit. A lonely drifter on the run from a past best forgotten, he moves from one scam to another, leaving a trail of enemies in his wake. Dublin invents his best scam yet when he meets Katherine Paker, a female fighter with the skills to take down a man twice her size. In a scheme Dublin calls "fight-rigging, in reverse", the two hit the road working fights in seedy basement bars, abandoned warehouses, and backwoods county fairs. But Dublin's shady past catches up with them and suddenly the stakes are higher - and more dangerous - than they'd ever imagined. Written by anonymous

In bare fist fighting, scrawny female beats up big blokes
7 September 2015 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Although I'm pleased that this movie has so greatly entertained a number of reviewers, I can't say I am one of them. The movie seemed like one big cliché to me. It moved slowly. (I could even run it at 2x speed and still read all the subtitles without any problem.) It felt like a movie made in the 70s for a drive-in theater. That is, it had a dumbed down plot and no memorable dialog. The cast was passable, but didn't have a script with enough depth to work from, or a director who could make it work, or the acting chops to rise above the material. It simply became boring. The fight scenes could not be realistic because of the mismatch in size and strength of the players and the fact that there were no stand-ins. Nothing happened in the movie that was not predictable. "Rigged" (2008) joins a fairly large group of boxing film predecessors, but if one thinks back over those past efforts, one simply has to rank this one very low in comparison. This film did not hold my interest.
