A mistake or an intended joke?
zendixie-jason22 January 2016
Zane Grey Theater was a great series. it featured many current and future film stars and the writing was usually good compared to the average TV shows of the era. episode sixteen of season three has a little something that left me amused and scratching my head. a few minutes into this episode, the scene is the local saloon. the location of the town is not mentioned but, it was apparently the home of many confederate soldiers during the civil war. over the bar in the saloon, there hangs a picture which is flanked by two confederate flags. the bar patrons turn to salute it and even mention the name of general Robert E. Lee. now, I'm not sure if the producers weren't that familiar with history or if they were having a little joke because the picture is that of general Sherman, possibly the most famous union general of the war. otherwise, it's another great episode.
