Three well-known actors star in this 1957 episode of "Zane Grey Theater" but only one is mentioned in the opening by host Dick Powell: John Payne. I guess the other two, Carolyn Jones and Stuart Whitman, weren't big names yet when this was filmed.
Payne plays "Clint Belmet;" Jones, of TV's "The Addams Family" fame, plays "Ella Clanton,"and Whitman is "Dave Jordan."
This episode starts off strong, goes into a soap opera lull for a short while, and then finishes strong again with a really astonishing twist near the end. Jones looked really appealing, but that's no surprise. Payne and Whitman were excellent as good and bad guys, respectively.
Note: Gee, I just read in her bio here on IMDb that Jones died at the age of 53 of colon cancer. What a shame. It sounds like she endured a lot of physical and mental pain her lifetime. Being a movie or TV star doesn't guarantee a great life.
