Life was pretty brutal in the Confederate prison where Lew Ayres was interred after capture during the Civil War. Among other things the prisoners busted up a lot of rocks in their incarceration. The prisoners also gave themselves tell tale scars on their arms to remind them every day of what they suffered.
Years later Ayres now married to Patricia Barry with Roger Mobley as son here's that a mine owner is hiring an extra crew and decides the extra wages will come in handy. Ayres and his friend Alan Hale, Jr. take temporary jobs there when Ayres recognizes the voice of foreman Mort Mills from those bad old days.
All the bad memories come back and Ayres seethes at the thought of those prison days. But this particular Zane Grey Theater has an interesting almost Twilight Zone like twist.
One very good teleplay for the Zane Grey Theater.
