Walter Brennan in his High Noon
13 May 2015 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Walter Brenna in 1957, about 12 years before playing the patriarch on The Guns of Will Sonnett, and here playing a crusty old sheriff being put out to pasture but unwilling to go gently. And to prove his competence he heads out to find a feared lawbreaker on his own. He discovers him and determines that being crafty Granpa Amos McCoy is the more practical approach to his capture as he has to admit his age is definitely slowing him down. He succeeds much to the shock of town's residents who now demand he run for reelection. But Breenan's character has grown and accepts he needs to step down and he refuses to run for reelection and they should find a new candidate. Too bad Will Sonnett isn't available as he would have been an excellent choice.
