The last of four appearances that Robert Ryan made on the Zane Grey Theater casts him as an army officer who thoroughly enjoys killing the enemy be it Indians, Mexicans, deserters whatever. The story is set in the Mexican War and Ryan and Corporal Harry Townes are captured by the enemy with Ryan getting a wound.
After traditional torture methods fail, Ryan has a sit down with the Mexican commander. Alexander Scourby is the Mexican commander and he learns who Ryan is, his reputation has traveled far and wide.
It's a battle of wits between these two, some of the best acting you'll see on this anthology series. All I'll say is that Ryan is most conscious of his hero status.
One of the best from this series.
