Power play
16 December 2016 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

This Zane Grey Theater production stars Van Johnson as a recently released notorious bank robber from the old west who now is looking forward to a life of ease. Emphasizing this man's fame and notoriety the hotel clerk has him autograph one of those dime novels of the day.

But unfortunately for Johnson he's immediately arrested after that and evidence clumsily planted on him for a bank robbery that happened the night before. It's all part of a power play by some individuals to take over the job of sheriff.

Johnson of course is no fool, but it does take a bit before his story gets believed and a trap set for the power behind the power play.

I'm not sure but this might be Van Johnson's only western. He doesn't have to sit a saddle, but his character and the rest of the cast register well here.
