- Xena: I used to think that I had to go through life alone--that anything else was a sign of weakness, so I traded my home and family for violence, blood--so much blood. I never want Eve to know that life. Maybe if she becomes an Amazon, she'll always feel a part of something.
- Gabrielle: She will.
- Xena: But your right of caste--that's a pretty precious gift.
- Gabrielle: Xena, we're all family--I love her like my own daughter.
- Xena: [Xena smiles] Well if that's how you feel...
- Xena: [Yakut suddenly appears] Yakut! What are you doing here? Why haven't you crossed over to the Land of the Dead?
- Yakut: When I left my mortal body, many things were revealed to me. Each of us has a mission in life, a role to fulfill--I didn't get the chance to complete mine.
- Xena: And you can't cross over until you do.
- Yakut: Xena, the Amazons are in danger.
- Xena: From what?
- Yakut: The key to the future lies in the past. I failed my people. I have to fix it before it's too late.
- Xena: What do you need me to do?
- Gabrielle: [Narrating] And so the Amazon legacy to temper might with mercy was restored thanks to the innocence of a child and the wisdom of Xena.
- Gabrielle: Don't shoot! Lady with a baby.
- Xena: It's *for* the baby, goober.
- Xena: [Xena puts Eve in the swing and begins swinging her. She smiles]
- Gabrielle: She likes it.
- Xena: But of course.
- Gabrielle: I always knew it was going to happen--you're nesting.
- Xena: [Skeptically] Nesting because I built a swing?
- Gabrielle: Xena, it's perfectly natural--you're a mother. Actually, I feel the same way.
- Xena: What way is that?
- Gabrielle: Have you ever thought about settling down? Here?
- Xena: Like when I'm too old to do kicks and stuff?
- Gabrielle: No, I mean right now. Xena, it's a beautiful place--you could raise Eve here.
- Xena: What are you talking about?
- Gabrielle: These kids need someone, they need guidance, they need... me.
- Xena: Gabrielle, are you saying that you'd wanna stay here and be Queen?
- Gabrielle: Only if you and Eve would stay. I think you should consider it.
- Gabrielle: It makes sense Xena--we've never really had our own home. So I see this place as our domestic bliss--all we have to do is fix it up a little bit.
- Xena: [Xena looks around, unconvinced] Wouldn't hurt to consider it.
- Gabrielle: [Meekly] Thanks.
