Xena finally confronts Cortese, the warlord who burned her village and turned her into a warrior.
Did You Know?
The "new" Xena kills less often than the "old" Xena, but still quite often. In this episode, Xena kills two of Cortese's warriors with her sword when riding into the village, and one in the climactic battle by slashing his abdomen just before dropping her sword. The "new" Xena's body-count after this episode is 37. However, she also tells her brother the difference between her new and old self when killing someone (see Quotes). See more
- I promise you, Toris, if you murder Cortese, you'll become what I was.
I've seen you kill, Xena. What's the difference?
Maybe it's just a difference in my head, but the pure evil of murder's it is premeditated - it is not in the heat of the battle, and it's not for self-defence - you have been planning this for years.
