Trivia:
Almost every guest character in this episode is named after a real life cannibal. more
Goofs:
Errors in geography: A poultry inspector in Arkansas disappears. The next day, Mulder tells Scully that a woman driving along Interstate 10 saw a "foxfire" in the vicinity of where the inspector was last seen. I-10 does not run through Arkansas; the closest I-10 is to Arkansas is the Louisiana Gulf Coast. more
Quotes:
Dana Scully: What are you talking about?
Fox Mulder: Some cannibalistic rituals are enacted with the belief that they can prolong life.
Dana Scully: Cannibalism is one thing, but increasing longevity by eating human flesh...
Fox Mulder: Think about it. From vampirism to Catholicism, whether literally or symbolically, the reward for eating flesh is eternal life.

Small town America, 2 May 2008
9/10
Author: Edgewalker from Tuxford, England

Frank Spotnitz's nimble script and Rob Bowman's elegant direction weave themselves together to create a true forgotten classic, Home or Humbug may be more fondly remembered, but Our Town snaps angrily at their heels - even if it it doesn't quite bring them down. Gary Grubbs is at home in small town America and his performance reflects this comfort and understanding, while the brilliantly creepy Robin Mossley could make buying the morning paper seem the most unnatural thing on Earth. John Milford manages to add angles and shades to the age-old X Files character who isn't all - or anything - he appears to be and Timothy Webber scares the wits out of me, you and everyone else for reasons that me, you and everyone else couldn't really put our fingers on. Our Town will always be an episode that gets stumbled across, rather than sought out, but it's no less powerful because of that.
