- The 8th Grade Boys Glee Club can't seem to carry a tune, but a new teacher named Miss Haycock is determined to rectify that.
- Kevin and Arnold are part of the 8th grade boys glee club, taught by Mr. Frace. However, the class cannot carry a tune no matter what.
One day, Mr Frace is replaced by a bright and spirited new teacher named Miss Haycock, who comes to the class ready to give her all. Auditions are held for Miss Haycock to figure where each boy's vocal qualities lie, but instead of being perturbed by their vocal tones, she says they all sing very well. Kevin complains about their new teacher's tone-deaf attitude to Winnie on the bus home, but Winnie doesn't share Kevin's outlook.
Miss Haycock then gives the group the song "stout-hearted men," which they will perform in a month at the "Spring Sing" concert. The group continues on, but it sounds like no progress is being made at all. Finally, Kevin (voicing the opinion of the other boys) explains to Miss Haycock that they don't want to be in the "Spring Sing." The boys are prepared for anything, but not for Miss Haycock suddenly bursting into tears at this response.
Suddenly, Warren Gander (who has been silent the entire time in glee club), vocalizes in tone beautifully, and reignites the boys to continue on.
Finally on the night of the "Spring Sing," it looks like everything is going Miss Haycock's way...until the performance. Noone is prepared when Warren Gander's perfect singing voice suddenly 'changes' a few beats in. This leads to a chain reaction that causes the entire glee club's performance to fall apart.
In shock at the end, Miss Haycock takes exit of the stage...and never returns. With her gone, Mr Frace resumes teaching the glee club, now back to their normal out-of-tune pitch.
