The third appearance of 7-foot-tall Richard Kiel as Voltaire, assistant of tiny Dr. Miguelito Loveless. For the first time, he speaks, which even draws a comment from Artemus Gordon. In his two previous appearances, Voltaire appeared to be mute, communicating entirely through gestures and facial expressions.

Loveless tells henchmen to dispose of West and Gordon "five miles past the Golden Gate". The "Golden Gate" is the strait that connects the San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean and is spanned by the Golden Gate Bridge, which was opened in 1937.
