On June 26, 1968, during filming and rehearsal of the episode, Ross Martin, Ross Martin tosses the rifle aside to run, but the rifle hit the wall and bounced back into his path. He tripped over the rifle and broke the fibula of his right leg. The scene was finished without him with actor Michael Fox filling in for him as a Gas Inspector in the scene because of his injury. It is evident that Fox is not Martin when Robert Conrad calls out to him during the fight scene by his character's first name of "Artie." Martin in disguise appears at the end of the scene filmed later. The broadcast date of the program was subsequently pushed out to December 1968 following Martin's injury.
When Jim is beset by three henchmen in the warehouse, Red West visibly splits his pants as he is about to punch Jim.
Despite the problems with using one as a weapon (see Goofs), Artie was accurate about the history of the tuning fork: it was invented in 1711 by John Shore, Sergeant Trumpeter to the British royal court .
Jenny Maxwell, Robert Conrad, and director Irving J. Moore had all worked together before on the series Hawaiian Eye episode "Go for Baroque" (1963).
The blonde girl in Artie's laboratory at the end of the show is Sharon Cintron, Playboy's May 1963 Playmate of the Month. It was her third and final appearance in the series.
