Storyline

Widower and former unemployed baseball player Tony Micelli meets up with Mona, the mother of Angela Bauer at the local community college. (A scene later shown in flashback in a later show) She tells Tony about the vacant position of housekeeper at her daughter's home and says there's "no problem". Tony then uproots himself and his 11 year old Samantha from Brooklyn and takes them in his less than beautiful blue van to Angela's New England suburbs home. Angela is none to thrilled about a man applying for the job, or that her mother said okay to him without checking with her. After much bartering and discussion Tony is hired but only because she sees how good he is with her son Johanthan. A few first week difficulties result (like Tony threatening her boss with a baseball bat, thinking he's attacking Angela), but she later thanks him for his concern and the show concludes with Tony telling Samantha "Looks like we got our work cut out for us Sam." Quotes

Angela: Yeah, so, I'm just going to let what happens happen.
Tony: Oh, hey, hey, oh. If you just let what happens happen, when what you wanted to happen happens, you're not going to know whether it happened or not.
