Nothing exceptional

A mature man marries his daughter. He is glad about it, but he doesn't know anything about the man of whose he's going to be the father in law. He learns not so long after that the man in question is an ex con who spent many years in jail for manslaughter. The poor man doesn't know what to do about it. He is a simple bank employee, an ordinary poor Citizen for whom his only daughter happiness counts. So he asks to his colleagues to help him, because in the meantime he becomes the target of a blackmailer about the situation he is involved in, concerning his daughter. He has to collect ten grands and fast... Our lead seems lost. How will he able to get out of this jam?
