On the same day as this episode's broadcast, the 'New York Journal-American' published its final edition and folded. Former regular panelist Dorothy Kilgallen was a writer for this newspaper with her column 'Voice of Broadway', which ran Sunday through Friday. Kilgallen also wrote articles that appeared on the same days as her column on different pages, sometimes as front-page news, such as her skepticism about the Warren Commission report.
Peter Tofts, the first contestant, was a special effects man in the Broadway musical "It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman", at the Alvin Theatre. Tofts worked behind the scenes, wearing a torso harness, and jumping off a 14 ft. ladder so that his weight would counterbalance "Superman" (played by Bob Holiday) and make him appear to fly. The show ran for 129 performances.
