Lois Mottonen, the first contestant, was on the show to remind viewers that the deadline for filing U.S. Income Tax was approaching. Since 1954, the deadline for filing was April 15th.
Louis Chu, the last contestant, aside from working as the disc jockey for the 'Chinese Festival' radio program on New York's WHOM-AM, had also published his only novel 'Eat a Bowl of Tea' in 1961, now considered a pioneering contribution to Asian American literature. The story was adapted into 'Eat a Bowl of Tea (1989)'.
Second contestant Wade S. Page owned the 'P&P Chair Company' in Asheboro, NC, which acquired worldwide fame in 1961 when President John F. Kennedy, who suffered from chronic back pain, used its 'Carolina' model rocking chair's frame to ease his pain. Thereafter, the 'Carolina Rocker' became known as the 'Kennedy Rocker'.
