Perception is Everything

Warning: Spoilers
It's been at least 45+ years since I saw this episode, but I will never forget it. It featured the wonderful Ernie Kovacs whose character came by a stethoscope.

Quite by accident, with the stethoscope in his possession in a hospital setting, people mistook him to be a doctor, and suddenly he was no longer a nobody, but a respected doctor. He never attempted to do any medicine, but he talked to a lot of people and made them feel better.

Eventually, of course, he is found out, and there are consequences. This was originally aired in 1959. For television of any period, it is thoughtful, memorable stuff.
