Trivia

One of the subplots concerns Sam's obsession over the "Legal Tender Modernization Act", which aims at eliminating the penny. The act does exist and was actually introduced in May 2001 by Arizona Congressman Jim Kolbe. The act also aims at withdrawing the Susan B. Anthony dollar from circulation, and prohibiting any redesign of the $1 bill. See more »

Goofs

After Bartlett and Hoynes finish their conversation in the Oval, the exterior shot into the office shows that it's raining heavily, including thunder. The next scene is happening simultaneously in a park where Donna and Josh are meeting Cliff about the diary. It is dry, and obviously hasn't been raining since Donna and Josh both sitting outside on a bench with dry hair and clothing. See more »

Quotes

Josh Lyman: Why?
Sam Seaborn: Why?
Josh Lyman: Yes.
Sam Seaborn: Because this country is populated with unbalanced people. Many of whom find their way to Washington. As if the continent funnels them into this one spot.

How much o'keefe is in this episode?? Well, not miles, but Michael. The delightful Mr. O'Keefe (CADDYSHACK, THE GREAT SANTINI) has developed into a fine performer in his maturity, as he plays a reporter temporarily and begrudgingly assigned to the White House. He chooses integrity over sensationalism, and his scenes with C.J. sparkle. Leo and an old military friend (Gerald McRaney - SIMON AND SIMON, MAJOR DAD

  • in the first of two appearances) debate a new war crimes bill, and

Leo learns he participated in a civilian massacre. After a shooting in Texas, Jed asks Hoynes to publicly reverse his position on gun control. Donna, Josh, and Cliff meet at the fountain used in the opening credits of FRIENDS. Yes, i realize some of you would rather i'd have kept that information to myself.
