Weird Al turns his clock radio into a time machine, which comes in handy when he realizes he's forgotten Harvey the Wonder Hamster's birthday. Today's lesson: "It's important to acknowledge your mistakes, learn from them and try to do better next time."
Weird Al turns his clock radio into a time machine, which comes in handy when he realizes he's forgotten Harvey the Wonder Hamster's birthday. The trouble is, he keeps going back 30 minutes in time and then makes a dumb mistake that requires him to go back 30 more minutes in time in order to correct it. Al ticks off the electric company, gets bitten by a radioactive lobster, infuriates Bobby the Inquisitive Boy, enrages Teri Garr, accidentally shaves off part of his head, and gets tripped by a Russian Cossack dancer before realizing that time travel is not the best way to correct a mistake. Meanwhile, Al shows Bobby the black and white educational film, "Mind Your Manners"; takes a nutrition break that includes nachos made from frozen waffles and sardines; and sings Harvey a birthday song about Yoda.
What's on Al TV? The exercise show features an instructor who forgot to warm up. "The Young and the Housebroken" shows a blubbering woman leaving her dog. An anchorman reveals that he is not connected to an anchor. A worker at mission control finds he has the wrong extension cord. The Morph-man comes with each body part sold separately.
Time travel is always good for some funny gags, but this episode doesn't make much of the idea. The plot, which is never taken seriously, is given especially short shrift here. The story just ends before the last commercial break and then Al performs a song number. As usual, the best stuff is on the TV shows within the TV show.
