Today's lesson: "It's not so important to hold a world record, but it is always important to do your best."
Weird Al's leaky microwave oven causes Harvey the Wonder Hamster to grow to the size of a baby elephant which earns him the title of World's Largest Rodent. A man with extremely large fingernails heralds Sir Alec Glynis from the Glynis Book of World Records who confirms the honor. Now Harvey is famous, and Weird Al feels inferior. Al tries to break the world record for doing the most sit-ups while holding an accordion, but learns from the Hooded Avenger that he has been holding the accordion the wrong way. Al invites all the Glynis winners to his cave for some pointers, but learns little from those who broke the records for the Most Consecutive Free Throws, the Longest Game of Marco Polo, the Most Consecutive Hours Timing Someone and the Longest Beard. The kiddie rock group Hanson shows up and accidentally causes Harvey to revert to normal size. To make matters worse, they perform a song number. Meanwhile, Al finds a horseradish enchilada in his Sugar-coated Bits and Pieces. Fatman fights Dr. Quimby P. Legume with an insidious plan to turn the city's water supply into split pea soup.
What's on Al TV? A commercial for Pirate Roofing features refugees from "Treasure Island." Siskel and Ebert disparage inferior movies. Zargonauts from the Planet Zargo-7 seek only humans who are the best at something: anyone else can forget it.
This below-average episode makes us wonder if the makers of this show were providing "Today's lesson" as an excuse.
