I was a bit disappointed by the mix of people, personally I thought having Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) may have raised the intellect level somewhat. Maybe this would make the questions too easy for one person, because to be honest, I got all of the questions correct and I'm not even American.
If anything to me this proved how ignorant some people can be; It was disappointing that a blank was drawn at the Canadian National Anthem. Especially as this is a neighbouring country!
Worf (Michael Dorn) would have been a great addition to the group, with his deep Worf-like voice and his chirpy spirit, it would have made it a very fun show. Rather than the appalling performance of Wes Crusher (Wil Wheaton) which somewhat proved him to be nothing like his TV counterpart; you'd think you'd at least try to meet your fans expectations.
I am not sure whether this show was also a ploy to lift some of the heat off the Star Trek cast by showing them to be normal dumb average people who just got lucky, or whether they had to pick a cast that would meet the average intellect of the viewers (or previous episodes).
Data (Brent Spiner) was sorely missed, and I'm sure he would have also raised the intellect level, because he's a very bright guy in reality.
William Shatner's (Kirk) performance was comical, but lacking any real depth. In reply to the question "Which roman numeral represents the number 100?" he replied "X" which most of the kids at kindergarten will tell you is wrong!
You don't have to be bright to be in show business, and this show proves just that!
