Carl Betz as Cap'n Herrick's son was in only the first aired episode. This episode introduces Harry Lauter as son Jim, as with Dave, Jim is a cop. Jim tells his father that a notorious racketeer, Al Catania, has escaped custody and the police believe he has a boat waiting for him outside the 12 mile limit. Herrick visits his old friend, Jonathan Beal ( not Jonathan Hale as the IMDb credits say) to bring him a birthday pie his wife has made for Beal. Beal is the longtime lighthouse keeper who is fascinated with the Old West and spends much of his time painting Western scenes. After Herrick leaves, Catania turns up at the lighthouse on his way to the offshore boat. The bulk of the episode has to do with the interaction between Catania and Beal and John Dehner as Catania and Eddy Waller as Beal do a great job in their portrayals. Waller is especially good presenting Beal as both wise and feisty. I had not heard of Waller but he was a veteran of many B westerns, notably those with Rocky Lane. A good episode.
