Storyline

Four men escape from Yuma Prison by hiding in barrels with a thirst for revenge against a man named Aben Starr who turned them in after their first escape. One of the barrels falls off the wagon causing the driver to stop. The barrel contains Cutler who is slightly injured in the fall. One of the other men shoots the driver when he goes to inspect the barrel. Starr works at the Saddle Creek Way Station and Randall shows up there expecting the men to arrive also. Soon two of the escapees, Martin Ash and Henry Turner, do arrive taking Josh and Starr captive while waiting for their partners to show. Before they do a stage rides in carrying a Quaker and his deaf-mute sister on their way to a school for other deaf-mutes. They all wait for the other two men to show up so they can carry out their revenge against Starr. The Quaker is killed going for a horse when he goes out for water leaving Josh and Starr with the woman who does read lips and understands Josh's silent request for help. Written by tomtrekp

Couple Of Famous Movie Stars In This One
27 September 2006 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Two "name" actors helped elevate this "fair" episode of four criminals who escaped jail and went after the man who squealed on them, a former member of the gang who really was a good guy in the wrong crowd.

Almost the entire episode takes place in one room after two of the bad guys (Ralph Meeker and James Coburn!) burst in on "Aben" (Edward Kemmer) and just-passing-through Josh Randall.

From that point, the story is a bit stagy but Meeker's convincing scumbag character and a very young Coburn make it interesting. Added to the mix is a Quaker man and his deaf-mute wife. They also make this episode a bit more interesting.
