Storyline

As a lone rider carrying the U.S. Mail rides through a rough, hilly and dry area two masked men stop him. When he tries to ride off, one of the robbers, Frank Parish, shoots him. They search the saddle bags containing the mail but don't find what they are seeking. Later, Josh arrives in Tucson, Arizona at the Continental Express Company office where he meets Inspector John Bascomb who had sent for him and rider Sam Jarvis. Bascomb explains that their riders are being ambushed on the road and they need help. They offer Josh $1000 to catch the killer. The holdups are on the road north to Flagstaff south of the stop at Tipton. They believe the robbers are after a $20,000 ring ordered by a miner who struck it rich. Josh rides ahead of Jarvis but is spotted and recognized. The robbers decide to switch the signs pointing to Tipton and the desert. Jarvis heads toward the desert but realizes there is a problem. Parish kills his horse but Jarvis wounds Dixon. Josh realizes there is a problem ... Written by Anonymous

Tough Action Tale
21 September 2006 | by See all my reviews

A very solid, hard-nosed episode about thieves after a $20,000 ring. It's being transported to a small town and the man receiving it has been bragging about it so, naturally, two thieves hear about and ambush the pony express rider. However, it takes several of those riders to get killed before the ring is actually delivered and now Josh has been hired to protect it. He's given "help" by the rich man who doesn't trust anyone alone with the package, whenever it does arrive. The "help" turns out to be one of the crooks ("Frank") who had gone back into town for water after his partner was shot at the last holdup attempt and lie wounded.

Going back to the area of the holdups, Randall and his (unknown to him) partner-traitor are shot at by the other thief. Frank shoots his partner. He and Randall then bury him but Frank hits Josh over the head with a rock and pushes him down the hill. He then grabs the ring and scrams. Josh eventually comes to and.....with a little liquid spiritual help (see title of this episode) .....goes after the bad guy and the ring. Good stuff....action-packed the whole 25 minutes.
