Storyline

Josh is eating in Jack's Café when he notices a short man peeking into the window at him. The waitress tells Josh a fresh pie has come out of the oven but when Josh asks how much he owes already, he decides he can't afford it even though he could devour it. At that moment the man enters, offers Josh coffee and a job for $100. Josh orders the coffee and apple pie. The man, Clayton Armstrong, explains that he needs Josh's help to elope with his girlfriend, Jane Fairweather. When Josh comments Clayton only needs a ladder, Clayton states he is afraid of heights. He offers Josh $50 now and $50 when done which the broke Josh gladly accepts. Jane's father, Martin, has two interests - Jane's cooking and his white horse Prince. When Josh reaches the window while on the ladder, he is met by Martin with a rifle. He and Clayton escape via the surrey they came in. Josh is forced to use Martin's weakness - his horse Prince - to steal his daughter away - but he gets the wrong one. Written by Anonymous

One WDOA Comedy That Worked
9 February 2011 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

They didn't have many comedies on the three-year run of this show, and none up to now were that funny.....but this was a good one, a very entertaining half-hour.

Melinda Plowman stole the show, as far as I was concerned, as "Patrice Fairweather." She was fun to watch.

A goofy guy named "Clayton Armogtorn" (played by the equally-goofy Howard Morris), hires "Josh Randall" to kidnap his girlfriend "Jane" out of her second-story room so they can get married. You see, Clayton is afraid of heights, so he can't climb the ladder.

Well, when Josh climbs the ladder later that night, he's in for a huge surprise......and a couple of more along with way which helped make this a fun episode to watch.

Morris overacts in here but the rest of the cast is very good, including the shotgun-toting father of the girls, played by Howard Smith.
