Storyline

Josh rides into a small settlement in the desert on near the Superstition Mountains. As he draws water, a man named Bannister walks up to greet Josh. The stop is called Star and he is the county judge and a horse trader among other things. Josh hands him a wanted poster for Joe Collins to see if Bannister has seen the outlaw come through. Bannister says he hasn't seen him but keeps the poster to compare against a picture he owns after Josh leaves. A bit later Josh on the trail runs into Bannister fixing a horseshoe with a couple of rocks. He finally admits to Josh he thinks the man might be his dead son Jody who was killed in an Army battle in Juarez. He leads Josh to a hunting cabin they used to use in the mountains. When they break in, they find Collins passed out shot in the arm and Bannister denies knowing him. Bannister digs out the bullet. Is Blood Thicker Than Water?

Josh rides into an Overland Trail stagecoach stop looking for criminal. The older gentleman, "Bannister," (veteran TV actor John McIntire) in charge looks at the wanted poster and says he doesn't recognize the man but warns Randall that it's dangerous headed into the nearby Supertition Mountain area. The man asks Josh if he can keep the poster to show to others. When Randall heads to the mountains, the main checks the poster with an older photo he had of a man. He then heads into the mountains himself, knowing a shortcut.

Horse trouble slows the man down and Josh runs back into him, finally finding out the truth. It turns out the older man thinks the wanted guy might be his son, who had been reported dead three years ago.

The two track the man down to a cabin where the wanted man ("Collins" - Clu Gulager) is lying almost unconscious with a wound. It is, as it turns out, father- and-son but Bannister doesn't tell Randall that, hoping to help his son escape.

This was a very good episode with three good actors and a shocking ending.
