Meeting John-Boy at the train station the Baldwin Sisters mention Edgar Allan Poe and his time in Richmond..but their history about him is off. John and Frances Allan of Richmond, Virginia took the orphaned Edgar Poe in. They served as a foster family and gave him the name "Edgar Allan Poe". They never formally adopted him. Poe and Mr. Allan fought frequently and eventually Poe broke off relations with him.
When John-Boy calls Ike Godsey, he tells the operator, "three shorts and a long." In the 1930s, most telephone users were part of a party line, and each household or business had its own distinctive ring. If a user heard their specific ring, they knew the call was for them and they would answer the phone. In this case, Ike's distinctive ring is three shorts and a long; the operator calling Ike Godsey will give three short rings followed by a long ring. Ike will know the call is for him and he'll pick up.
It's revealed that Elizabeth's middle name is Tyler.
