Ben is a surly man with a hairy eyebrow and a mole that makes him look evil along with the attitude. He and Terry don't mix with the others including the wagon train staff. Rumors develop based on the Sheriff's escort that they may have been run out of town. In addition, Letty Morse who has been unable to conceive a child but wants one takes a strong interest in Terry who claims Ben is not his father. At the same time Charlie has a severe toothache that forces Bill to send him and Duke back to the town to see a dentist. When they return, they have the full story on Ben and Terry but all is not as it seems plus the Morrells have left the train after being confronted about their status. Written by Anonymous

When the sheriff escorts you to the Wagon Train..............................
7 February 2018 | by See all my reviews

Father and son Henry Jones and David Ladd meet the Wagon Train and seeing that they get passage is none other than the sheriff of their town. When the law give you a sendoff you know that suspicions will be raised.

So they are and they're not helped any by the fact that Jones is surly and taciturn and not one bit friendly to anyone. In the meantime Vivi Janiss who is a middle age woman with no children befriends Ladd and she's convinced that Jones is mistreating him. Young David could also be the answer to a prayer about not being blessed with kids of her own.

A trip to that town made by Denny Miller and Frank McGrath yield explanations as to the issues involving Jones and Ladd. Young David does have some mother issues that are not completely explained. Still the truth is miles from what the gossip mongers thought.

A little tightening on the plot could have made it a top drawer Wagon Train episode.
