Flint heads to Maddoxville to buy beef for the wagon train. On the way he finds a woman shot laying on the ground but alive. He takes her to Maddoxville to the doctor. Although the doctor's wife wants to turn her away, he treats her. Flint learns she killed Ben Maddox's son in her room behind the saloon. Maddox had sent his hired gun Jesse to catch Jane Hawkins to hang her but Jesse shot and left her. When told to bring back the body, Jesse can't find it so Maddox has him search the town. He learns she is alive and in the area but his men are forced to search for her. Flint who hid Jane decides Jane is not guilty so he enters town the next day saying he is her relative looking for her. With the information Jane provided and a critical detail provided by the doctor, Flint breaks into Maddox's house to confront him and his daughter with the truth. When the guilty party confirms his suspicions, Flint also confirms that Maddox is not interested in the truth but preserving his empire. ... Written by Anonymous
