Storyline

Duke Shannon has been riding all day on a cold and windy day. Both he and his horse are ready for warmth, rest, and food so he decides to stop in the small isolated town of High Times which had been a mining town at one time but is now nearly deserted. At the stable he finds a crippled young man, Emmett Lawton, who doesn't want to take his horse but is finally persuaded to do so. He then heads for the saloon which also has rooms only to find it full but the bartender finally agrees to put a cot in a store room for him for two bits. In the saloon Jed Swairt tries to pick a fight with Duke only to be killed accidentally when he and Duke exchange blows and he hits his head on the stove. At the general store he is advised to leave town so he is quickly learning the town is less than friendly. The next day he finds his horse gone and eventually he is knocked out and locked up to be hanged later. He soon learns the town has been taken over by a n outlaw gang led by Monte West. Totally cowed
24 November 2013 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

Denny Miller stands alone in this Wagon Train episode where scout Duke Shannon rides ahead of the Wagon Train into the town of High Times. Of which there hasn't been much in a long time, ever since the mines closed and the sheriff killed. After that an outlaw gang headed by Stanley Adams took over and made the town their headquarters.

Adams's gang killed the sheriff and crippled his son Dennis Hopper. They've got the rest of the town totally cowed and when Miller accidentally kills one of them the only one that will give him any help is Hopper.

This episode borrows elements from High Noon, Johnny Concho, and Firecreek. Hopper will move you considerably as the crippled kid who is the only one to stand up to some really nasty outlaws.
