Storyline

Flint and Hawks find a man killed with new Army repeating rifles so Seth sends Flint ahead to scout for Indians. Flint finds Doc Lockridge camped with the stunning Dora Gray stating he is selling blankets. Dora is on her way to San Francisco. Flint camps with them overnight and while they sleep he discovers Doc has a load of Army rifles and he had been signaling to Little Horse his position. Flint takes them prisoner and heads them for the Fort but Doc escapes. Flint decides to take Dora to a smaller nearby outpost against her advice. At the outpost Flint learns the soldiers there traded the rifles to Doc and Flint is taken prisoner. The Lieutenant in charge takes Flint out to kill him but is interrupted by Little Horse looking for his rifles. Dora escapes the outpost looking for Flint and becomes trapped in the fight with the Indians beside Flint. Written by Anonymous

Linda Darnell and John Carradine
6 January 2011 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

Episode 20, "The Dora Gray Story" starred Linda Darnell as a wanderer heading to San Francisco with Doc Lockridge (John Carradine), who trades liquor for army rifles, selling the arms to marauding Indians. Flint McCullough (Robert Horton) discovers the hidden rifles and takes them both captive, but the cunning Doc is able to escape when Dora diverts Flint's attention. Flint decides to take her to the nearest army post, unaware that they swapped their rifles for Doc's whiskey, and are forced to imprison Flint to maintain their secret. Among a fine cast, Mike Connors plays the lieutenant of the army post, and Dan Blocker plays the sergeant, but it's John Carradine who gives the best performance, meeting a bad end from the Indians who never got their rifles. Carradine rejoined Ward Bond, director John Ford, and John Wayne (billed as Michael Morris) in the 1960 episode "The Colter Craven Story," while Linda Darnell returned as Dora Gray in "The Sacramento Story." This was the last pairing of Carradine and Darnell, formerly at 20th Century-Fox, where they appeared together in "Brigham Young," "Blood and Sand," "Chad Hanna," and "Fallen Angel."
