Once a Thief
2 December 2012 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

Laraine Day is the guest star in this Wagon Train episode and after some money is stolen from another wagon, still another passenger Eleanor Audley recognizes Day as someone who was in jail for robbery many years ago. Audley is one of those who finds the bad in everyone and one who has a memory for sin providing it's someone else's.

Once recognized Day cops to her prison record, but not to the current robbery. We see a flashback and realize what this terrible crime was. She was a victim of Draconian justice back in the day.

Of course this all reflects as he sees it on her husband Richard Carlson who married Day on impulse over a decade ago and they now have a son, Kevin Corcoran. Poor Kevin torn between his now estranged parents starts hanging around with the Wagon Train crew and makes a friend in Robert Fuller who gives him some sound advice about growing up.

The mystery is eventually solved and it turns out to be a crime not unlike the one that Day originally did her bit for. This episode is a nice family story and should be seen by kids, those kids who take on themselves the problems of estranged and separated parents.
