Charlie finds himself the prisoner of Bella McKavitch and her two idiot sons Esdras and Ciel. The third person is a young boy named Scotty. Bella sent them for Chris Hale as she has heard they are carrying a $5,000 payroll for the Army. Bill Hawks and Duke Shannon are aware of it but Chris kept it from Charlie. When the bag is removed from Charlie, Bella instantly recognizes that Charlie is not Chris even though she has seen neither one of them. Since Charlie knows nothing of the money, they decide they will have to kill him but Charlie tells them he is really an outlaw himself and can help them. Plus, Bella has a thing for new husbands so she has a personal reason for keeping him.
