We Are Not Amused
bkoganbing8 March 2019
This episode has our Voyagers landing in World War I on the Eastern front where British troops are fighting the Bolsheviks in defense of the Romanovs. Why is because Grand Duke Michael married another granddaughter of Queen Victoria. As Czarina Alexander was also a granddaughter to Queen Victoria that is what is bringing the troops to old mother Russia.

That's why the Omni is red and Bogg and Jeffrey have to go back to the United Kingdom when Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show are playing there. The Grand Duke fancies himself a good shot and Stan Sells challenges Diane Cary as Annie Oakley to a shooting match. Convention of the time dictates that the male and a royal male at that win no matter what.

Let's say the Russians go to some lengths to prevent an Oakley victory. When discovered Queen Victoria is not amused and Lurene Tuttle says this Grand Duke ain't marrying a favorite granddaughter.

In between all this our Voyagers save Albert Schweitzer from the clutches of a witch doctor Raymond St.Jacques anxious to retain his tribal influence. Schweitzer is played by Christopher Cary.

Incidentally Grand Duke Michael was killed with the rest of the Czar's family in 1918. If he was anything like he's portrayed here, no great loss.

Its What You Call Working On A Budget

Warning: Spoilers
I'll give this episode a high score because of Bogg and Jeffrey casually walking up on the WWI battle like that at the beginning.

But the funny thing was the WWI Russian front, England visited by Buffalo Bill's wild west show or Albert Schwietzer in Africa, the setting always looked the same! Of course it did.

The episode gets high marks for bringing together Robert Donner (Exedor from Mork & Mindy, but also one of the ghosts from Spirit Is Willing and a hilarious preacher thinking the Hulk is the devil on Incredible Hulk), Lurene Tuttle as Queen Victoria (there's ya a low budget queen) and Rogert Englund's beloved from the V series.

Plotwise, its a bit daft.

I actually watched the episode to see John Laughlin, who I had caught in two episodes of Murder She Wrote, as he is credited here as well, but as John McLaughlin.

Okay, I think there is a reason he has a different name; its a different guy! That is NOT the same guy from Murder She Wrote.
