Blackbeard the pirate (Malachi Throne) returns to life in the late 20th century, on Seaview, and he wants to take control of the sub. Before Irwin Allen did The Return Of Captain Nemo (1978) he did The Return Of Blackbeard (1967).
Guest star Malachi Throne holds a special place in the Voyage/Sea universe.
On top of Malachi's acting, we have a fine light hearted score from Lost In Space's composer: Mullendore! However, the score runs out of punch after act one. And after act two the whole episode runs out of punch.
But the high quality of the start means I can forgive the lesser quality of the second half. My main problem with the second half is Del Monroe's light hearted acting which just does not wash with this viewer.
It is a safe guess that Irwin Allen had little do with this hour (he was putting together Land Of The Giants) as Irwin had no time for comedy in Voyage/Sea...a few regular cast members have mentioned Irwin's dis-like of comedy in Voyage.
