Christmas coincides with Geraldine's tenth year as vicar and David suggests she apply to be a bishop. A coincidental visit by Rachel Hunter leads Alice to believe that Geraldine is gay but plans go ahead for her to meet the Archbishop of Canterbury to discuss her promotion. At her party she dives into a chocolate fountain, emerging to meet the Archbishop. Sensing she has blown the promotion she gets drunk and delivers a bizarre midnight mass, whilst Jim's winning entry in a carol contest is similarly unusual. Written by

Frank Pickle gives a speech that he was born in Dibley on 12th August 1929. In real life, that was also the very same actor John Bluthal's real date of birth - 12 August 1929, but he was born in Malopolskie, Poland. See more
When Geraldine is vesting for Christmas Eve Mass she is putting on a green stole. This is the wrong color for this time of year. Advent is purple and Christmastide is white. The priest has the option of using either color, but mostly they go with white. Green is for "ordinary time" which is around 8 January until Ash Wednesday and then picks up again the Sunday after Penticost and runs until the Sunday before Advent. See more
