A Dangerous Point of View
Prismark1018 July 2020
Van der Valk is seen yawning a lot in this one. In once scene he is shown wearing just his underpants. No wonder the episode had a warning beforehand.

Van der Valk and Kroon have been spending day and night investigating the death of a man found stabbed in a block of flats. It turns out that the deceased was a former policeman who was now a private investigator.

Suspicion moves to not the people in the apartment block he was found in but the block opposite. The dead man who watching someone and tracking their moves.

Suspicion falls on a young couple. A cinema projectionist and a university dropout who is the daughter of a police chief outside of Amsterdam. It turns out the police chief hired the investigator as he feared that his daughter had fallen in with bad company such as drug dealers.

It is a straightforward case for Van der Valk. Kroon makes a mistake which meant the link between the police chief and the deceased was not caught earlier. So it really only comes down to a few suspects.

I think there was a message about caring for your loved ones. Arlette shows her love for Van der Valk by bringing in a change of clothes at the police station as he has been up all night.

Great case, questionable fashions.

Van Der Valk and Kroon investigate the death of a man, who was found stabbed to death inside someone's home in a block of flats, Van Der Valk discovers that the man had been observing someone in the flats opposite, and thinks one of those is the killer.

It's another very intriguing, and thoroughly enjoyable mystery, there's something quite unique about this storyline, nice to see that Van Der Valk doesn't deal exclusively with the middle classes.

Goodness me, there is one scene where Kroon is wearing trousers that are ridiculously tight, it's quite unsettling, nothing is left to the imagination, the seventies were great in so many ways, but the fashions here are dubious.

Be still my heating heart seeing Lois Baxter, who played Emma, well known for several roles, but for me she'll always be Madam Lamia from Doctor Who, lovely actress, so beautiful.

A small role for John Quarmby, not long before he'd torment Basil Fawlty as health and safety Inspector Mr Carnegie.

One thing I would just like to highlight, for anyone that is critical of diversity, just look at the array of faces and cultures in Amsterdam, it's clearly a diverse community.

8/10.
