Storyline

When Eliot Ness and Agent Martin Flaherty raid a small butcher shop looking for illegal liquor, they find more the cheap booze: they find the body of the store's owner, Arturo Vittorini, in the meat locker. The dead man's wife Barbara accuses the neighborhood Mafia chief, Joe Bucco, of ordering the killing. Bucco denies having anything to do with it - the dead man was his wife's cousin - but is pretty sure his collector, Little Charlie Sebastino, is responsible. He also learns to his shock and dismay that the Mafia hierarchy has pushed him out and Little Charlie has been named as his replacement. Bucco strikes back and sabotages Sebastino's trucks but the Mafia sends him a message when they kill his driver and he knows that unless he backs off, he will be next. He gives Eliot Ness a present just in case he's knocked off. Written by garykmcd

Combination of adulation and fear
20 September 2013 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

The Untouchables themselves are reduced to being character players in this episode about the rivalry of Mafia capo J. Carrol Naish and his chief enforcer Henry Silva. The Mafia bosses have decided that Naish has been getting too soft and they do give him an option to retire. But Naish won't recognize the handwriting on the wall.

Silva's one ruthless character and Naish responds in kind. What he misses is the combination of adulation and fear being a Mafia boss arouses in his neighborhood. He refuses to live without it.

The rivalry is something that Robert Stack and his Untouchables hope will finally break the Mafia with their code of silence. How well they do is for you to find out watching Naish and Silva go through their paces.
