Storyline

Always looking to expand their area of control, the mob is now out to get control of the bakery industry. Eliot Ness is in New York to testify at a trial and the local US Attorney asks him to stay on to help with the problem. Under the control of the Syndicate, Louis 'Lepke' Buchalter tasks Bryan "Bull" Hanlon to gain control of the industry by establishing a truckers association to get control of deliveries. Hanlon's inclination is to start with small bakers and slowly move up but under orders, he goes after the largest baker in the industry, Adam Stone. Highly respected in the industry, Stone is an old school businessman who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty or get down on his hands and knees to fix a piece of equipment. He wants nothing to do with the mob and isn't afraid to stand up to them. Until they threaten to harm his daughter Marcia, a dancer on Coney Island, who he has not seen for many years. One tough baker
5 December 2013 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

Eliot Ness who was in New York to testify at a trial hears of the death of another Treasury man in the line of duty. Robert Stack and Paul Picerni stick around to aid in the investigation.

What the story in this episode is about is the bakery industry and Murder Incorporated's efforts to shakedown the bakers and bring them into a syndicate run combine. Chief of the independents holding out is Harold J. Stone who is one tough guy.

John Larch is the guy that the syndicate has picked to organize the bakers and he's on a spot. They're not crazy about the attention that is being brought upon them by the murder of a federal agent. He's on a short leash from Murder Incorporated.

Larch was always a good actor in villain roles and he's at his best in The Untouchables. In the end Eliot Ness however gets justice for his colleague in an unofficial way.
