Nobody's Perfect, But Aren't These People Supposed To Have Character?
ccthemovieman-117 January 2007
The team is in Beruit, Lebanon, trying to find out if the Russians are selling technology to the Iranians which would enable the latter to make nuclear bombs. Jonas, Mack and Bob are working with an Arabic woman is supposed to help plant a listening device so that the Americans will be privy to private speech, telling them what's what regarding this possible technology problem.

The second story involves the problem of wives or any other family members accidentally divulging any information about the Unit because over 100 guys have died in the last year thanks to careless remarks. Colonel Ryan reads the riot act and tells all the women that if one more incident of this - anything more than "have a good day is said to anyone outside this room," he will take the program and start from scratch somewhere else.

Meanwhile, back in Beirut, Brown is told a change of plans has him now outside of the building because he's a risk. His passport shows he's made five trips to Israel, Jonas is told, and the other side must know this....and so he probably is Jewish and he could damage this mission just by having the Iranians know this.

Two bad things about this episode: 1 - I guessed correctly what was really going on, so it couldn't have been too clever; 2 - Three of the seven leading characters in this TV show are shown - particularly in this episode - to be brutal liars (the Colonel, Tiffy and Molly) and/or people without morals, even though they all speak a big game.

I was misled early on watching this series that these are people of extremely high character, but apparently Hollywood writers (David Mamet, in this case) wouldn't know real "character" if it hit them in the face. Sad to see, and it takes away from credibility of these brave men and women.
